    It's not a valid callsign.
    He's not an ham.
    So, how is it possible?

    Thanks.
    Alex.

Sometimes SWL listeners and prospective hams sign up for accounts here, too.

How many nations still issue SWL licenses?

Germany: All DE calls are SWLs
But, I think it is not possible to register on QRZ.com as SWL?

You can't use QRZ with an SWL code.
It's a HamSphere Call; still, it's on the database.

Well, as far as I know, very few. Or maybe none.

I think I misunderstood. I've seen folks with non ham calls in the forums at least, I guess not the same as the callsign lookup.

HamSphere is a world wide virtual Amateur Radio Network with operators from over 200 countries. In order to use this app you need a legal Ham Radio license. However, the PC version of the software allows both licensed Hams as well as Radio enthusiasts who have the intention of becoming licensed.

    It's just a user name. It's not a callsign.

No different than a user signing up with "FutureHamIowa"

They have very restricted privileges of course - no bio page, no log book, no swap meet access, etc.

But no reason to block potential future hams from being members here

That was my initial thought too, but non-ham users usually doesn't show up in the call sign database. This one does.

Well, a lot of strange things happening on the database...

Is this whole HamSphere thing, let's say, normal??
