I think the call sign means he's working some kind of EU DX Association.

I was also hearing stations like LA4UOA, S51DX and others on 20m so far this morning too.

The nature of folk, Burt. The media figured this out long ago. :p

When I was a kid my folks always had a Reader's Digest subscription. Always loved to read them. No blood, guts, and gore. And columns like Laughter Is The Best Medicine. Nowadays, the checkout at the grocery store carries mostly crap, like the National Enquirer. I guess "good" news is boring. :(

Judging from recent experiences of the amateur radio scene in Sweden,

I would say that AR qualifies as an "anti-social media".

There are few venues with a larger proportion of misfits...

A little harsh there, dude. If you look at it statistically, of course the more data points in your sample, the wider the bell curve. But I think the mean value is firmly in the good. :)

In Sweden, perhaps. Here? There are grouches--that's somewhat amplified because we still skew "older" and some people get all out of sorts as they get older--but mostly hams are some of the nicest, most generous, most helpful people it has been my pleasure to know. :)

Dang... just worked S51DX in Slovenia on 14.232.50 using nothing but qrp power.

He's still there if you want to try. :)
