Why are hams selling their Heathkit radios?

    I don't think it's so much a matter of knowledge...any new ham can be shown how to tune a tube transmitter, manage separate receivers and transmitters, and deal with that other initially scary stuff. ;)

    It's more a matter of "why"? I love my Heathkits...for example, I try to get on the air with my HW-16 every single morning. But for nostalgia's sake and my fond memories of the rig, not because one will do anything for me my IC 7610 won't. Few young hams will feel the allure of, say, an HW-101 as compared to THEIR HW-101, the IC 7300. ;)

    I picked up a Heathkit sb101, and matching speaker, along with the 2m transverter. I get a real kick out of using it at least once a week. Currently working to restore the 2m transverter.
    Attached are the finished sb101 and before and after pics of the 2m transverter. Just got done recapping the electrolytics in the 2m last night. But the pics don't reflect the work.
    And I'm a relatively new ham at 48 and licensed 5 years ago.
