I think it's petty but have nothing against changing it.

Just don't don't be so PC that I have to use a dictionary to find the AM section.

Can we change it to "The AM Ghetto"? That would make be smile and probably make a few AM haters feel validated. :)

"Amplitude Modulation" instead of "AM" is an improvement. Are "AM fans" hams that operate in the morning hours?

Not only do we restore and operate vintage rigs, we also have folks that advance the state of the art, as in solid state, PWM, Class D and E, and of course audio processing for a pleasant sounding and readable signal. A great deal of this innovation stems from the fact that we are fortunate to have professional broadcast engineers in our ranks, and their expertise is shared freely with everyone on the forum.

So how about "The Art of Amplitude Modulation"

or possibly "Advances in Amplitude Modulation Technology"

Please consider the short descriptive title "AM Enthusiasts" to accurately reflect both the intent and content of this forum.

The suffix on the forum banner will be removed soon. It will read “Amplitude Modulation” which is simple and inclusive of all AM operations.
Vintage or modern, it’s all good with AM.

Well the category is self explanatory . It IS "Amplitude-Modulation". However, the treasure trove of information and cumulative experience suggests exactly what it offers here:

    Amplitude-Modulation- Operation, Design, and History
    .

    ..and I'm a "FAN"of all three!

When the forum came alive, I was grateful that I was allowed to see it happen, and it’s being on the most viewed Amateur Radio site on the planet, my enthusiasm just soared. I didn’t give much thought about the extension of “AM Fans” but it did make me feel like AM was thought of as an exception instead of a historically significant part of radio. I knew it wasn’t meant as a slight either and it came to be viewed as fandom so to speak.
When it was brought up about why AM Fans was included on our forum banner it made me realize it wasn’t really needed and I certainly didn’t act on the decision to remove it due to petty complaint.
After reading all of the responses I thought what the hell, let’s do it. Fred was kind in moving on the decision quickly and responded to the request without complaint. I appreciate that very much.
We have a great group here and as such, everyone’s involvement and dedication to keeping it interesting makes it all worthwhile.
    Thanks to everyone!
