Anybody else here use 2 Meter SSB and CW?
Voice, CW, digital text(such as PSK), SSTV?
I've been on 2m CW since 1965 and 2m SSB since 1969. Don't do 2m digital.
Ssb and Digi, no CW
Been on 2-meters since 1960. Started out with a home brew AM / CW transmitter with a 2E26 in the final amplifier and an Ameco CB-2 converter. Can operate using AM, FM, CW, and SSB today (no digital on any band).
There are plenty of folks on 2mtr ssb and cw, digital also. I started in the 80's and still there. Have yet to make a HF contact. (that was mainly because I never had a HF capable rig, I do now) For SSB and cw check out the ON4KST chat pages. Ping Jockey chat is choice for digital and EME folks.
144.205 was like 20 meters the other day during a contest. Check out the 205Morningreport.com site to see activity. You can work Stan easily from your QTH.
Provided you have antenna horizontal.
Plenty in your area. Look for you in the contest this weekend.
N4JS and I tried FreeDV (digital voice) on 2m SSB. It worked really well.
But yeah normally we work SSB. Sometimes CW but I suck at CW.
Some of the smarter (tech-wise) ops work VHF+ non-FM.
My main interests have always been weak signal VHF/UHF work and I am VERY active on 2 meter EME
I get on once in a while. We might be able to contact, but only if you have a real good antenna.
Me and some of the locals here rag chew on 144.192 SSB. We are all vertical but we aren't chasing grid squares. It's a lot of fun. Wish more ppl had it.
Can do all modes on 2 mtrs except for contests don't hear much SSB activity around here. At one time was very active in VHF/UHF contesting not so much in recent years will get on and give out a few contacts. There are a few pockets of AM on these bands but not much in that regard.
