I have used RTTY on and off, mostly off in favor of the other digital modes like PSK, FT8 etc.

But, I have just started to play around with MMTTY software, setting it up and using it to contact all the "AM70" stations currently on the air.

I think its pretty cool and like I said, I'm starting get the program to work as I like it, hot buttons, canned msgs, font types, sizes and color.

Running about 1.5kw on 20 meters and I think its a blast.

So, is there a RTTY forum?

And if there isn't one, perhaps we need one to get others interested in it so this historic mode doesn't die a slow death.

I believe the working different modes forum is the most appropriate one.

There is no RTTY forum here on The Zed.
But RTTY is a long way from "dying a slow death".

RTTY seems to mostly be a contest mode now. It used to be a go-to for DX, but FT8 et al have supplanted it. We will see what FT4 does to the contest side of the mode.

I run soundcard RTTY, but to me the real excitement is running it true FSK via hardware modems, complete with dancing X-Y tuning scopes. The only thing I haven't done is gone full teletype machine.

RTTY as a mode seems to be sleeping in between contests, and during that sleep
it is dreaming of the return of Sun Spots and propagation. Of course, if not looking
for DX, you can do RTTY OK locally with a huge antenna and perhaps a 25 KW broadcast amp.

For the rest of us.... FT-8 until the sun wakes up.

Think I will do RTTY (again) now that my new Yaseu ftdx-3000 is arriving soon.
First did RTTY, in the 70's with a REAL teletype machine, ASR 28, which weighed a ton. Had to convert the 60 mil current loop to TTL for my transmitter. Now I can do it with a soundcard, without the whole house shacking and clacking. Ain't science grand!!!!
