Where'd the Yaesu FT-817ND go??

    Do update on how the Windcamp battery works out for you, I've been thinking of getting one as well.

    Slightly tangential to the 817, I have the KX3 on my list as the next step up for QRP, but the surprising thing I found is that the optional battery charging circuit for the KX3 is a dumb timed unit as well.

    so far, so good, the lone con so far is the 3+ weeks it took to get here from China via "Holland Post"

    Hope it is discontinued and a new replacement is going to come out. Yaesu is replacing the FT-857D with the new FT-891 which is exciting (hoping for better RX and filtering and IF DSP). Heres to hoping for a new 817 replacement sometime soon.

    I used the Windcamp battery a bit this weekend, it seems like a real solid replacement for the stock battery at more than double the capacity. I talked for about 45 minutes to some friends back home on 40M (5 watts) and it still showed over 12V remaining when I was done.
