I don't know if it was this forum thread that got me opening my wallet or not but I just ordered the IC-705 and the Elecraft T1 tuner to go with it. This is my first QRP rig so we will see how it goes. I do like the outdoors a lot.

Nice choice. I hope you enjoy operating outside. I so much look forward to the warmer weather so I can do same. I've been doing it for many years and never got tired of same.
Good luck with your new setup.

Hi, thanks. Yeah I am really excited about it. But would you happen to have any suggestions for a compact decent antenna to work well with the 705? I have been doing a lot of FT8 work on 20 meters mostly with my 7100 and the Hustler 6BTV with a yard filled with ground radials. Clearly that will not be coming with me into the forests......

    Exchange rate x5 + taxes x2
Hence, as a rule of thumb, x10 your prices in USD, x8 if second hand.

Yaesu ft-847, Its an all-band radio, maybe fine on HF bands but it is considered one of the best of all time radios for the quality of 2M/440 transmissions, it can even do satellite

WW II Signal Corps gear: An/APR-5; AN/APR-6; AN/APR-9; or AN/APR-14.

I had one of them many years ago and still miss it sometimes - but it was a pretty mediocre HF radio, you know!

Still have the FT847 with Collins filters, as spare radio.
after that i used the FT2000-D and FT100 for 2/70.
Bought the FT991A last year June, all in one and works nice, I'm used to Yaesu menu structure, so no problems, radio does fine.
Now, most important part what about antenna's? ;)

Humm, one that isn't mistaken for a radar detector.
