Years back, some South Mississippi hams loaded up an old railroad bridge on 160 and made some QSOs. I have seen antennas made from metal crutches, coat hangers, and beer cans.

what are your crazy antenna stories?

making a 2m j-pole from foster's tinnies (hey! we got that from qst or cq).
i don't drink, so the chore was left to him. the soldering was terrible.

then there was fat freddie of the fabulous furry freak brothers fame who loaded
a bedspring into an audio amplifier and microwaved the entire audience at their
start-up band's first and only performance at a rock concert.

Rain gutter. Op swore by it after making dozens of contacts around the world. Made suggesting an actual dipole a hard sell.

I made a transcontinental contact on 40 meters using a dummy load once. Signal report wasn’t too great though.
