Yes, but the ALC issue affected only owners who used an amplifier --most hams don't-- and Kenwood fixed it(and still will) OUT OF WARRANTY FREE OF CHARGE. When they did mine, they also updated it to the latest firmware and tuned-it-up to factory specs.

    Really?
I see 13 of them have sold on eBay in the last 90 days.

Yet they still continue to sell in sufficient numbers for Kenwood to keep it in their line-up.
    ;)

Kenwood in my opinion is pretty much the same as has been in
the past before JVC. They spend time on R&D until they get it right. They rarely release a flawed design. Please remember that Kenwood rigs have a premium reputation for out of the box reliable performance for close to 8-10 ten years before needing any bench work. And all the while flexing the limits of the state of ART. I think Kenwood will continue as they have for over 70yrs.
Furthermore, they generally IMHO focus on the next solar cycle as much as we do! Thanks Kenwood for all you do.

In the meantime, almost all rig suppliers use the Kenwood CAT protocol. It is the standard today. A clear indication that Kenwood is also the leader in the interaction of radio and PC. Kenwood is a very professional company, also with professional radios one of the largest suppliers.

Some manufacturers introduce too many new rigs, in my opinion, and sometimes the new rig is inferior to the old one. A rig that's really good deserves a nice, long ride.

Next thing you know, they'll be building a Kenwood "Ham Radio Death Star".

So does this mean Kenwood is back from the brink?
