What is a Radar in POTA you might ask?

Where did you get those cases for your radio and antenna/battery kit? I'm building a similar setup with a new (to me) 7200 + BuddiPole setup.

Eagerly looking forward to the Summer of POTA. Gotta shake this covid cabin fever.

Having a new outlet wired into the shack so no radio time right now, meanwhile I applied for my RaDAR thanks to your video :)

I would actually like to thank ZS6BNE Eddie Leighton for creating the RaDAR program from South Africa, and Greg Lane N4KGL for getting me involved with QRP portable operations from the beginning. If it was not for RaDAR, I would not ever have gotten into SOTA, or even thought of doing NPOTA/standing up POTA. 73 W3AAX

I picked these up at harbor freight. They are Apache 3800’s.

Parks on the Air was the push I needed to upgrade to general back in October. Before that I hadn’t been on the air since 2008.

Great stuff Shane! I absolutely love getting out and setting up portable POTA setups. I find the station setup to be the best part of the POTA activation. Great advice on being prepared for different scenarios and bringing “gear”. I take along a Wolf River vertical and a couple different (20M and 40M) resident Dipoles... you never know. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and sharing. See ya on the air someday, Park to Park!

I enjoy POTA. I combine some fly fishing and camping trips with activations.
Great change of pace when the hatch slows down. Or later in the evening after dark.
In PA we have a lot of state land listed as parks.
Many with great peaks to get that portable up in the air.
The ones I tend to frequent are only accessible on unmaintained roads.
So I have to wait for the snow to melt to get in there.
