I am using Blizzak winter tires, do you have any comparison experience?

I don't have any experience with them, but in the tests I have seen they usually end up in the mid field. They are more seen as central European and city winter driving. Where I live there's no salt on the roads in the winter so it's important to be careful and select tires especially good on packed snow and black ice.

Today, I helped a friend pack up a Neumann lathe which is going back to the place where it was born 55 years ago... Berlin!

This one was in Atlanta and my friend who owned it sold it to a studio in Germany. It comes apart and goes into crates so it will survive overseas shipping.

If my vote for this thread counts for anything, you win this round. Very cool.

Thanks! My lathe exploits may be boring to some, but I think that the Neumanns are amazing machines. They really are a pinnacle technology item with lots of unobtainium... and they are heavy, fragile, not forgiving of mistakes, and expensive to repair after the aforementioned mistakes.:oops::p

Oh yeah... and properly repaired and set up, are amazing sounding recording devices, astonishing really.

Today, I got the final paperwork from the County ending probate and I dissolved the estate of my father.

    Not so glamorous, huh.

Paul @KS2K gave me the impetus to dig out my EPROM burner and get it going again.

He needed a PROM programmed for his Vanguard NOAA satellite receiver. EPROMS lose their memory after 40 years or so... sound familiar? (what???)

My trusty Viao from 2002 is a great computer. The lamp blew out and I picked up one when I was in Berlin figuring I could save some money by replacing it myself. Of course, I snapped one of the layers and killed the screen. That saved me about -$1800 for a new computer... :p

It's my only living computer that can run this programmer, so there!

Anyway, I finally remembered how to get the burner working after messing up a few chips.

Now I need to find the UV eraser and the set will be complete.

My wife says it's in a box somewhere... I hate moving.
