What am I doing wrong! IC-718 and MFJ 949E

    bottom line is that an antenna tuner is no match for a tuned antenna .
    I'm still wondering how dipole turned into j-pole way back there...

    The post where he mentioned using a J-pole was posted on July 27 2007 and his "typo" was edited on July 30 2007.

    Now that was funny. I never actually realized Denver was in another stake. As for keying repeaters in Denver from Cheyenne, that's easy, when I am home and decide to use VHF/UHF it is always on Denver repeaters. I was so highly impressed with the members of the local club I have never keyed a local repeater or talked to a local operator.

    All of my times spent as a VE are done in and around the Denver area which we have already established is in another stake.

    He is referring to a subdivision of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, they call them "stakes".

    that 'splains it, it's a speach impediment... say "dipole" with your tounge all of the way out and it sounds like "j-pole"
