    Anyone remember this station? My brother and I played with adding extra capacitors to a simple tuned crystal radio and it came in about S9 on our set in Maryland :)

    Ah yes: 179 kHz.

    Used to listen to it on a Sears Wayfarer 6-band portable radio back in the '70s for it's informative broadcasting from SE PA :

    "This is WGU-20, the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency station.
    Eastern Standard Time, 10 hours, 32 minutes, exactly.

    I picked it up with a converter I built with 1 transistor. It up converted to 2mhz. It was strong.
    Upstate NY at the time.
