Can we have one of those guys please?
The ARRL 2nd VP is Bob Vallio W6RGG. An extra, an accomplished DX operator who has been on DX peditions to a couple of rare ones
Yea... let's get this guy.
Not for CEO--I've known Bob for a long time. He's too smart to take on that job at his age
Well, my point: I'd be happier with a guy who is actually involved in the hobby than some "professional professional".
I would not.
Dave may not have "kept up" with some stuff, but was always active and had his finger on the pulse of amateur radio, not just here but globally.
And I agree he didn't hide at all. He just got old as we all do, and probably tired as we all get.
I remember working him when he was running the ham club at a college in the 60s...Michigan State? I forget. Dave's always been active, and still is. Great CW op.
I did think about applying for the job at one time but I cannot leave New Jersey.
However I know one or two who would be suitable and who I can support.
You would be completely acceptable.
Ria, you are exactly what the ARRL needs! You are an experienced leader in the the corporate world, BSEE, expert in IT infrastructure, systems integration and software development, and a avid contester and DXer. Most importantly you are "no shrinking violet".
I encourage everyone to get to know Ria. You will be impressed.
I got my Novice in New Jersey in 1960, got a job at Seton Hall in 1979, couldn't leave fast enough.
But if your family keeps you there, move the ARRL. North Jersey Contest Club would give up W2AW?
