    With Sadness I pass along that WB2SMR Fred Parker is SK.



    WELLS, Vt. - Frederick J. Parker, 80, of Lake Saint Catherine, Wells, passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland following a very brief illness.

    He was born on Dec. 25, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y. Son of the late Nelson and Ida Parker.

    Fred Parker graduated from the Buffalo Public School System, he attended the University of Buffalo, receiving a B.S. degree, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy receiving a MBA.

    He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

    Fred Parker worked for the Buffalo Blue Cross Insurance Company in the health care auditing department. He was appointed to the United States Presidents committees that designed Medicare and Medicaid principles of reimbursement and reporting. He also worked for the New York State Health Department as Director of Bureau of Audit and Investigations and uncovered nursing home scandals in the 1970’s. He retired from the State service in 1995.

    He belonged to the Quiet Birdman (flying organization), several Masonic Lodges, including Wadsworth Lodge in Albany and Granville Lodge No. 55 in Granville, where he had served Master of each Lodge. He was appointed Grand Stewart of the Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons in the State of New York. He was a member of the Valley of Albany Consistory, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Masons. He was also a member of Oriental Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S. of Troy.

    His hobbies included hunting, Amateur Radio and flying.

    Survivors include his children: Barbara Dietzel and husband, Roy, of Colonie, N.Y., David Parker and wife, Beck, of Winston-Salem, N.C. and John Parker and wife, Rebecca, of Princetown, N.Y. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jonathan, Michael, Melissa, David and Andrea.

    Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at the Adamsville Baptist Church in Adamsville, N.Y. with Pastor Ken MacLeod officiating.

    Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.

    Friends may call on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y.
