Have you seen the depression-era phots of men in New York City erecting skyscrapers? They are walking along on 6" (ish) beams, straddling the rails while calmly eating a sandwich as matchbox-sized cars down below go about their business, oblivious to the activity above. The workers act as if they are walking on a 40 foot wide floor! YIKES! EEEEEEK! HORRORS!!! After many beers?? Oh, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Ain't NO beer or the sweetest cola a-gettin' ME up there! LOL!
No question that long-span suspension bridges are the purtiest. Older technology is much more cluttered and clunky.
