    World War II Icons

    • Curtiss P-40K Warhawk: Owned by Butch Schroeder, this beautifully restored fighter kicks off the lineup. Its session honors 2nd Lt. Curtis List, with personal stories shared by his daughter.
    • North American P-51 Mustangs: Multiple generations of the legendary fighter are on display. Highlights include the P-51D "Jane VI" (presented by Sébastien Domine and Bill Marshall to honor Lt. Col. Bert Marshall Jr. of the 355th Fighter Group) and the rare P-51B "Shillelagh III" (honoring ace Lt. Kenneth H. Dahlberg).
    • Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina: Fresh out of a rigorous seven-year restoration by American Aero Services back to its 1942 configuration, this historic flying boat is brought to the grounds by the American Heritage Museum.
    • Lockheed P-38 Lightning: A rare twin-boom WWII fighter that will be contrasted directly on the ramp alongside its modern namesake, the F-35.
Warbirds take to the skies for daily afternoon air shows and special Showcase Flights. The Night Air Shows (scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, and Saturday, July 25) feature breathtaking pyrotechnics and flight demonstrations from classic warbirds like the B-29, PBY, F4F, and the DC-6.

Celebrating the America 250 theme, EAA AirVenture features a major presence from NASA. The NASA static displays in the Warbirds and Boeing Plaza feature striking, patriotic liveries on an F-15 Eagle, an F/A-18 Hornet, and four F-5F Tiger IIs.
