Want to setup a mesh network of digipeaters (not for APRS)

    Good luck with your project. If/when you get it working, post pictures. :)

    We see this idea pop up at least once per year. It's unfortunate that amateurs don't experiment with networking more often.

    You'll definitely need to get some elevation and/or high gain TX beams for site to site links! 10 watts UHF won't go very far unless there are few obstructions. But a cool idea! My friend who lived just a mile or so away from me and I would occasionally play with packet. But I was much further down in elevation and had to use a full 45 watts and my 1/4 wave ground plane 30 ft off the ground for him to hear me consistently and for a solid copy..

    Consider doing it at 9600 baud rather than 1200. I think you'd need a better radio to do that speed, though. Good luck
