I figured we need a separate thread so Pat can keep us all updated.

So, Pat, when U find out your SCHEDULE, please post here.

There will be LOTSA other QRO OPS on besides me. In fact, I will be the WEAKEST W1AW/6 as the rest of the DXers have stacked monobanders at 200ft and such. And Alphas to power them! I expect the /6 effort will be SPECTACULAR for a week, as the TOP DXers in SoCal will be on the air with big signals. So U will most likely work one of the BIG GUYS intead of me. I will post when I am on the air looking for contacts here though. Probably be mostly RTTY with some SSB when allowed. RTTY will be 100% SPLIT as I have a weak signal and don't want to be drowned out by the loud callers. Being on the CALLING END of the RTTY Pileups, I see how hopeless some ops make it. Probably will be listenning 10 KCs up so my signal won't be bothered by the LOUD SIGS. Clowns who call on MY FREQUENCY won't get answered cuz I won't be listenning there. SPLIT ONLY!!! Same with SSB. If I hadda MEGAWATT, I could probably do simplex. But with my SQUEAKY LITTLE SIG, I need a DEAD QUIET TX frequency!
That is where U callers can help. If some #$@#@#@ is Jamming me, I will need to know to move and get away from him. No one can work me if they can't hear me.

On 40 and 75, I have a G5RV up about 40ft, and also can use the Cushcrudd R7 on 40. On 75, there is WIDE EXPANSES on the CW/Digital band, but on 40, every KC is JAM PACKED! So will hafta choose my TX freq very carefully and look for suggestions. I HAVE made it through the pileups to all the East Coast and Midwest stations on 40 and 75, so I CAN WORK YOU. It's not like I am running a FT817 into a Hamstick! The KILLERWATT does a good job! But I can't compare to the BIG GUNS out here running 4CX10,000s into 5 element 80 meter beams!

If U aren't getting through to me, here is a secret CELLPHONE NUMBER to call so I can listen for U on a quiet freq and get U into the log!

If you're sure you'll be operating split, I'll keep the KW hooked up, unless I somehow acquire an RV-3 by next week. Of course, even if I did, it would probably not be ready to operate in time.

RTTY? Maybe I'll make my first RTTY contact. I'm not sure if a pileup is a great place to try that out the first time though.

If you hear the theme from Sanford & Son playing in the background, you'll know it's Pat! :p

I just signed up for (OMG!!!!) about 48 hours of operating in the next week. All day Sat, Sun,Mon and all evening long on all workdays except for Thursday when I have my Radio Club meeting (I have to be there cuz I am the President and giving the Program on the Ultimate GO Kit!). So I will be burning the candle on both ends and in the middle! MARATHON Operating! just like a DXpediton!!!! Hope I hold up (and the radios!!!). If the Linnyure blows, I have a backup Heathkit SB-200 ready to put in line. If the FT5K blows, I have an Icom IC-736 just a switch away ready to go! Will see who or what gives up first!

Will publish my schedule as soon as it is firmed up. But I will see alotta SSB time as well as RTTY. Even a 4 hour stint on 75 SSB!! (Will wear out my G5RV on that one!!! Expect I will call ALOTTA CQs that night!!!)

Double check the 12th and 13th. Something doesn't look right.
