Arnold "Arnie" Krauel, WA0GUD of Audubon, Iowa became a silent key this morning.

Even when his health made it difficult, Arnie remained a very active ham in the area clubs, and with MARS. He was always willing to mentor the new (and not so new) hams, and eager to learn and try new modes.

He was a good friend the few years I was lucky to have known him, and he will be missed by those who had the honor to spend time with him.

I will post more information about the coming services (to be held in Audubon, Iowa) when they are scheduled.

During his early years with the police department he was also a delivery driver for the milk route.

At a young age, Arnie developed an interest in ham radios which quickly grew to a deep passion and hobby. He became certified to teach ham radio operations to others and joined several ham radio clubs and organizations. He remained involved with ham radios the remainder of his years as well as developing an interest in traveling. His greatest passion was his family and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
