I've had two contacts recently with foreign visitors to the US using the format W6/ and their call sign. If I simply log the contact with the call sign it looks like I've made a contact with someone in Germany or the UK when all I've done is talk to someone in San Francisco who was visiting from overseas. If I log the contact as W6/... I get an error that the call sign can't be found. So, I'm not sure what to do. Is there a correct way to log these contacts?
W6/DX1DXX is the correct format. If your logging program doesn't accept that, try the old way: DX1DXX/W6. Make sure that there are no spaces between the W6/ and the actual call sign either way that you do it. If there is a space in between that will also cause an error because the program only sees the W6/ when it is in the front. If the W6/ is on the back, the program will only see DX1DXX and stop at the space. Most logging programs now accept the first one. If yours doesn't you need a better program...
