W4MC--EX K4MLC SILENT KEY

I was sorry to read in January QST that Ed McFarlane, W4MC, Ex--K4MLC, of Bristol, Virginia, age 97, had become a Silent Key. Ed was first licensed in the 1950's. When I first knew him in the late 1960's, Ed had a printing business. He printed a number of ham radio related newsletters, including The Virginia Ham a newsletter for Virginia amateurs active in traffic nets and interested in public service. Ed was an active member of the Virginia CW Net (VN) for over 35 years and was well-known among amateurs in the Bristol, Virginia area. He was an active amateur to the end.
