    Allen R. Breiner Sr., 88, of 212 Race St., Tamaqua, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of the late Evelyn A. (Gerber) Breiner.

    Prior to retiring, he was an electronic technology instructor at the Carbon County Vocational-Technical School, Jim Thorpe.

    Born in New Ringgold, he was a son of the late Claude and Carrie (Frantz) Breiner.

    He was a member of the UCC congregation of St. Peter Union Church, Mantzville.

    A 1938 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Temple University.

    An avid supporter of amateur (ham) radio, he was a founding member of the Old Buzzards Radio Club and the Tamaqua Wireless Association, where he also served as past secretary. Breiner was also a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League, serving as a past EPA section manager for many years; the Quarter Century Wireless Association; Improved Order of the Redman, Lodge 288; Tamaqua Haymakers Loft 288.5, serving as a past secretary; Tamaqua Elks BPOE, where he was a past secretary; and the Tamaqua East End Fire Company.

    Surviving are a son, Allen R. Jr., and his wife, Sally, of Tamaqua; two daughters, Sylvia, wife of George Seely of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Linda, wife of George Kunkel of Jim Thorpe; a brother Eugene of Newville, Cumberland County; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

    The Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
