    Henry Sisson Carpenter, age 95, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA.
    Born in 1916 in Yonkers, NY, he was a son of the late Henry S. and Mabel T. (Tallmadge) Carpenter. He lived at Bangall (Hull's Mills) NY until 19 years of age and attended Hunn's Lake School, Stanford Union Free School, and Pine Plains Central School, graduating in 1934.
    Following school, Henry served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for 3 years at Mitchel Field on Long Island.
    Henry was married in 1938 to Eleanor Vosburg who predeceased him in 1997. He was employed by Grumman Aerospace Corp. at Bethpage, L.I. for 36 years and lived in Syosset, L.I. for 30 years.
    He was active in Nassau County Council and the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award in 1961. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in East Norwich, L.I. for over 30 years and was an active radio amateur since 1945.
    In 1976, Henry moved to Ashokan, NY and was a member of the Shokan Reformed Church where he served as a Deacon for 4 years and later moved to Kingston, NY in 2001.
    He was a member of Olive Senior Citizens Club since 1977 for which he served as past president and was also a member of the Grumman Retiree Club.
    Henry is survived by his three sons, George and wife Jayne of Mechanicsburg, PA, John of McDonough, NY, and James and wife Sue of Vestal, NY; four grandchildren, and two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Lasher Funeral Home, 100 Tinker Street, Woodstock, NY where there was a viewing from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Burial took place in Stanford Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shokan Reformed Church, 4 Church Street, Ashokan, NY 12481 or to a charity of your choice in Henry's name.
