YEP 1ST CALL WB2ZLL 1975, NOW AMATEUR EXTRA WITH VANITY CALL. IT WAS MY DADS CALL IN NJ, SJRA CLUB. W2KBR ORIGIN IN NEW YORK. I'M DONE, NO TIME, NO EQUIPMENT, NADA. AT 87 YEARS OLD I HAVE HAD A GOOD RUN. 73 TO ALL
In the end, it is of course your decision. Your license expires this year, as does mine. I want to encourage you to renew in the event you may change your mind. Best Wishes and good health.
My callsign does not expire for another 9 years and given the fact that I am 80 YO I may pass before having to renew is an issue. If I'm still around and coherent I will renew although even now my on the air activity pales by comparison to what it once was. Having said that I still get on the air from time to time and particularly in winter it is an activity I can enjoy regardless of the weather.
Interesting "first post" - he's never been back on the site since he posted this. Wishing you well and good luck no matter your decision, should he ever return to read this. Dave W7UUU
I see his license expires next month. I hope that wasn't the deciding factor. If so, I hope he knows that W5YI can take care of it for a very reasonable price. And even if he has no equipment, a Baofeng can be a lot of fun, for less money than the license costs.
They can have my CW key when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers. I hope to be on the air until I jump in the box.
