Did any ham projects ever make use of this oddity? I would have expected someone might have written a preamp project using that tube in an early CQ or 73 mag article?
AKA; 1630, A5588, CV2715 That's a strange little tube. UHF Orbital Beam Hexode https://frank.pocnet.net/sheets/084/1/1630.pdf
50 hr. service life, and used for 106 mc WWII radar systems. Real odd tube. I'd love to see a schematic for the SCR 270 radar RX.
"Strange" is putting it politely. I've only seen the UHF "triode" versions, and those were surplus military devices... Seriously, the design was an attempt at UHF, but other designs made it obsolete.
Similar to the Acorn 954 http://www.r-type.org/exhib/aaa0276.htm There was a 1 valve regen. short wave radio kits used the 954 and a couple of SirKits used em as well, think there was a 955 knocking about or something similar, not too sure on the CV numbers though. Dave
