After may years living in Ohio and attending Hamvention every year, I finally visited in 2024 after I moved to Oregon and came to Hamvention after 20 years. What a cool place, and their amateur station is something else, too. The volunteers are happy to show you around and spend time chatting about everything there. Highly recommended side-trip during Hamvention.
I have donated several items to the museum over the years but I have not been there recently. But it is very much worth seeing. I did get to go there ca. 1976 when it was still in operation.
Yes worth the time to visit, pretty cool. IMO Great crew as well. Check out how they brought the HV into the building. 73,
Having visited there some years ago...I second the motion. Even the climb up the stairs and the ladder is worth it. - WB9QLR
Went last year in Dayton. A short drive and a wonderful guided tour. We spent hours in the museum. Al KB7THX
It has been since the first year of Hamvention at Xenia. It is well worth the visit. Hope to make time this year again. Bob-NC8I
We stopped after Hamvention 2024 - What a marvelous place!! Well worth your time. Fascinating look at important history and cool radio stuff. Go if you can.
I went last year. Was a lot of fun, to be honest. The antenna switch yard is still there but all the antennas are gone. Still LOTS to see. I intermingled WLW site visit with the pics, they are at most 2 blocks apart https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1KfQMaWJMGDZwN2zrLrF747wA-FXou0NB --Shane WP2ASS
One of the facts i learned about while visiting was the origin of Radio Flyer wagons. Crowley needed something to hold batteries when they would swap them out in town. Hence the wagon bring radio batteries. The Radio Flyer! Lots to learn about there for sure. --Shane WP2ASS
They used to have radio swapmeets at VOA. It is close enough to WLW that a guy had a crystal radio set with an antique horn speaker connected and you could hear it. I think the antenna was a loop too, but that is vague memory.
