I never believe anything I read in an amateur radio ebay ad.
    Check country of manufacture :)
Wow! No "Arking" What happens if it rains hard?
Stock Ranger didn't have great audio. Seller says "good clean audio". Are there documented mods included or will it be a head scratcher?

The cabinet color is WAY off!

There may be some other capacitors, besides the electrolytic capacitors, that should be replaced.

Does the transmitter have the keying modification? The earlier versions did not have the additional small chassis keying circuit that is mounted on the front panel. There was a modification kit available to add this circuit and the later versions came with the keying circuit from the factory.

Is the transmitter factory built or is it from a kit? If the tube sockets are riveted, it was factory built and if the tube sockets are held in place with machine screws, it was kit built. If kit built, the wiring can range from excellent to just plain ugly!

There are all sorts of things that can affect the value.

    Obviously, an early kit-built unit.

Be very careful if OIK comes out on top in the auction. He needs to check all of the solder joints, loosen and then re-tighten all of the machine screws that go through the chassis, etc. It does look like the paper capacitors have been replaced.

The keyer circuit is pretty simple and it can easily be home-brewed on a bracket made from sheet aluminum.

The Sherwin-Williams paint formula, for the proper Maroon paint color, can be found in my article at the following URL:

    https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/11...ds/Boat_Anchor_Paints-1.pdf?ver=1562269735742

The formula can be used by any good paint company and the base for both acrylic and oil based paints is listed. Frankly, I really don't trust home improvement stores to get the paint correct. But, any good real paint store should not have any problems using the formula which is for 1-quart. Of course, some method of applying the paint is needed.

What a novel idea, but then again, what else could you do with it - maybe, if you had an ugly cabinet collection, you could add it there :)
