The Motorola Batboard had a 2004 thread about acquiring the Vertex CE-31 software directly
from Vertex Tech Support for their VX-800 radios, read here:

Vertex VX-800 Brochure (4 page color original released with radios)

Related QRZ thread. reviews - VX-800 (note comments about programming issues)

Sounds like a common problem. Are these recent surplus radios?

So, you lost the CD-ROM disk (drivers, software and manauals) that shipped with the FIF-10A.
BTW, the FIF-10A sells for $195 USD (cable sand software)

Supposedly this dealer gives away the software with the programming cable

    OPERATING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP

As advised, this software will NOT work with Microsoft® Windows® 64-bit OS !! (XP, Vista, 7).

    FYI: Microsoft® Windows® 98 is a 16-bit OS and standard Windows® XP is a 32-bit OS.

I did find a couple of sites (Eastern Europe), BUT I did not post -- since they appear to be Spyware/Malware download sites.
IF you just need the USB driver (and it was not on your CD-ROM), then call Vertex Tech Support -- they will e-mail you copy of file -- IF this is a Yaesu/Vertex cable.

ALL BETS OFF -- for Chinese and Far Eastern cables -- may not have used same USB level converter chipset as Yaesu/Vertex.
