1 am using a linear line stretcher for tuning.
It is an old FM radio telescoping whip antenna.
I just move it in or out to tune the antenna.
Keep the transmitter off while tuning

I can remember when I was a kid, my friend's father had a boat with a portable radio in the wheelhouse which had a "DF" loop on the top of the radio. The loop had a second loop inside of the first loop. Covered the AM BCB and the "beacon" band below the BCB. This was in the very early 60s.

CQ had a recent article on building a variometer using a Home Depot bucket and some PVC pipe material. author used THNN electrical wire for the windings.

Don't remember where I picked this up. 55 - 875uH. Maybe use it in a preselector\preamp for the receiver?

That dates from the twenties! Good condition for its age!

One of the 1st things to scrap - old enough that no one knows / buys .
I helped move a couple semi loads of surplus from surplus stores , repair shops etc. , buying selling & closing .
This was early on in my ham life , so did not recognize what we were throwing / scraping .
That's probably a good thing , --- I did not have as much of an issue with having enough space , until I got into ham radio , all the goodies , parts etc. that " ONE OF THESE DAYS " I could use that ;)

NO-bodies older than Tom , I thought he invented dirt ?
