AC0GT, Thank you for responding. Your input is NOT "too much thought". Your concept to beacon information on multiple bands/modes likely to be received by the masses is well thought out.
I look forward to joining you and other "real" thinkers on this topic, perhaps on a new (or existing?) thread.
I'm pleased to have turned this thread in a positive direction but acknowledge many would rather discuss a movie's technical errors.

I am confused: are you saying that WA1GXC is not a "real" thinker?

Also, this thread IS ABOUT a movie. Do you NOT want us discussing the subject of the thread?

Seven. No decimal point. No trailing zeroes. Just seven.

    Stay tuned.

Yes, it would be great to hear from Art Bell. Maybe later down the log.

W1YW, If the radio isn't old, how will it connect us with our deceased loved ones?
W1YW, EBE radio signals netted Jodie Foster 9 million dollars. Probably not a problem for Ms. Foster.

W1YW, AC0GT was kind enough to respond in detail to my question about contacting others post-apocalypse.
WA1GXC, Did my acknowledgement of AC0GT's thoughts bother you? Are you confused? If not, please help me reassure W1YW there was nothing in my remarks suggesting a negative opinion of your contribution to this thread.

W1YW, I've already acknowledged that my question was off-topic.
I thoroughly ENJOYED the film Independence Day (1996). Was its premise acceptable?

You diverted into nuclear war and emergency frequencies.

In fact, the thread is about a film on posturing to EBE's, essentially a plaintive sublimated yearning for God to fix our problems.

We need to fix our own problems.

I didn't see that in the trailer (because I wasn't looking) but I suspect you are correct. If so, I'll leave the theatre considering the movie, generally, a waste of time.

Yes. Absolutely! Society, government and religion are rarely complete solutions.

With concurrence and respect for WA1GXC's analysis of the Internet as a flawed information source, I spent some time today on the Web hoping to find proof that fractal antennas and invisibility cloaks are, in fact, alien technology that you are privy to. I considered that maybe your real objection to these films was their inaccurate portrayal of EBE's. No evidence found for either concern. It would have been cool to have an alien acquaintance.

Anyway, WA1GXC will vouch that I was just a punk kid;-)

    Totally and irritatably human.

    Negative.

Fun fact : Sam Jaffe, who played Professor Barnard ("The smartest man in the world!") in "The Day the Earth Stood Still"
had a B.Sc. from City College of New York and went on to graduate studies in engineering at Columbia University.

When the alien visitor Klaatu breaks open the door to Prof. Barnard's study in his home, he walks over to the blackboard to
review the mathematical problem arrayed, as yet unsatisfactorily resolved.

I read in a review of the film by someone way-beyond my education that the equations shown are, in fact, correct representations of the classic
    "Three-Body Problem" in celestial mechanics.

    73!

I get the senior rate. It cost me 12.75 to get in, and AI go about once or twice a week.
However, if I buy pop popcorn a couple of hot dogs that is almost 25.00 plus the 12.75 so I'm looking at roughly 35.00 dollars and maybe 40.00 if I get a candy bar, or a bag of M&Ms
