Scott, It's neat that your SB-610 is featured in the movie, and I believe we need some occasional fantasy and escapist entertainment. Your posting here has sparked a surprising amount of discussion, so I'll sit back, sip my coffee while watching the deer in my backyard, and see what transpires....

If these TV shows and films get a few more kids interested in radio as a hobby and engineering as a career, I can live with the technical inaccuracies.

 

I look forward to watching this on amazon. White house evacuated, Hmm interesting.

To bad they did not use a straight key adjusted for use and show a real ham's hand sending code.
Also Having Art Bell in the film would have been epic, even if they had some actor to play his part.
I have visited Pahrump Nevada and have driven the road to area 51, before turning around and heading back where my presents were more appreciated. They still watch you from the turnoff to the point you are encouraged to turn around.

 

It's very nice that they found you, specifically looking for input. I can't tell from the trailer how well the information is applied, drama outweighs realism in the theater. Still, the input they had was reality thanks to you!

Who hopes that this new movie will make other people makes intresting in the hobby, will get disappointed.

The Kenwood TS-520 is that, what the public got in mind. The movie only underlines with this transceiver, that nothing happend since the end of the 1970s. The Kenwood TS-520 was manufactured from 1973 up to 1978. And in the movie, there is to see on the chalkboard the year 1988.

So the joined Kenwood transceiver will represent the past in the new movie.

Its not only bad press for the hobby, its a statement for to be backward when those equipment is still in use. And unfortunately it is, because some operators always swears on the old technology until today. And this without a reason.

 

Added value, that's still a win.

 

As expected, the Zed movie critics have descended from the heavens to judge and sentence an entire, yet to be released movie by surgically picking apart a 2 minute 7 second trailer.

I'm not a sci-fi fan, but watched the trailer anyway and look forward to seeing the entire movie.
