I noticed quality ham receivers used for AM communications are lower in price than 5 years ago on eBay. Many quality receivers are less than $200. A clean working National NC-109 that has crystal filtering on eBay cannot fetch $100 now. Zero bids at $67.

Hallicrafters SX-111 cannot get a buyer for $199. Lucky if it ends up selling for $125. Technical Materials GPR-90 is only bid at $228 with a few hours left. Used to be an $800 radio. NC-270 that used to cost $300 are now $150-$200. Yet, 75 meters AM is as popular as ever

Only radios holding value are Collins R-390A, NC-183, BC-348, SX-42, NC-303, Collins 'A' series and some HQ-180 radios. It is a buyers market!

Building my AM station I did not want the 70 to 100lb radios. I bought a 36lb SX-111 and a 29lB Globe Scout 65. I will use my 55lb Amp Supply LK-500zb to make more power. If I did not own the LK-500zb, I would not buy it now due to weight.

There are two kinds of receivers for use on AM. Those that are collectable and those that allow one to hear when the creatures come out.

An AM-COM DNR speaker will make about any ham receiver turn into a Super Star. You have to go to SDR to better it and not by much.
