hi, my Kenwood ts-520 pegs the meter when de-keyed and in a few seconds it returns to normal and the sound also slowly fades back in with the meter.... any ideas greatly appreciated, take it this is not normal! .

    thank you.

Do you mean after transmit then you UN Key ? Does it do the same using the Send switch ?

What is the meter switch set to measure ?

    Good Luck.

Make sure the RF GAIN is set at maximum ("10") and if the meter still behaves that way, try a different AGC switch setting (if it's set to SLOW, try FAST) and see what happens.

oh, its still does it with RF up or down but it responds quicker and just pegs out and drops fast with AGC off pegs longer and drops slower with AGC slow and longer still AGC fast.

    That didn't make any sense.

thats why i am asking on here!. it still pings over to the full side with a tink and drops to normal reading no matter what you play with ! ....

well that is what it is doing, will upload a video on YouTube to demonstrate later but it is what it is, unkeyed the needle pings to the right fiercely and drops and receive comes back and needle stabilizes normal with the AGC off it happens real quick with slow its faster then with fast AGC which is real slow to return and fades back and needle slowly corrects in the space of a couple of seconds which seems a long time in real life!

Something has failed in the AGC circuit, it seems.

The meter shouldn't even respond with AGC OFF (except when transmitting).

I haven't seen this particular issue. Perhaps Clif KA5IPF, who is a Kenwood expert (retired) might read this and chime in.
