My biggest problem with uno is its not intuitive at all. You really need their video series to get started. That said once your used to it and having working as you like there is no going back. I am very happy they are tracking LO now as truly it was a big pain in the arse.

Thanks NW7US for spreading the good news about SDR receivers. I have been playing around with them since the first RTL-SDR came out. At the time I had a Flex 5000 and was amazed at the new $15 dongles, I still have one running full-time ADS-B feed on a RasPi4. I also progressed to the RSPduo and recently added the RSPdx for wide banded HF searching (they also work very well as a tech tool for my own radios, just remove antenna).

I have tried most of the free software out there and concur that Simon Brown's (the Ham Radio Deluxe creator) SDR-Console is the easiest to use, most robust and fully supported SDR program out there. Simon continues to update this program almost monthly with new features and additional receiver support. Don't forget to help feed Simon's dog with a donation. 73

I too have a G90, and it is now my only radio. I also have an RSP1A. It is indeed possible to use the two together - You can do so by utilizing the CAT port on the G90 along with the OmniRig software and either HDSDR, SDRUno, or SDRConsole. The OmniRig software connects the G90 and your RSP software of choice so that they are synchronized in frequency & mode. So in effect the SDR software becomes a large panadapter for the G90, and a second receiver as well.

I am not set up that way but there is a lot of information available regarding details.....

    Thank you for sharing.

My thoughts are younger hams, or any ham who plans to grow with the hobby is going to have to learn the basics of SDR's. I work on the commercial side, cellular and utility, and SDR has already taken on over the market. Every cell tower, cell phone, LMR, out there today is SDR or soon will be. Ham radio manufactures are already making the conversion and for good reason. SDR is less expensive, smaller, and out performs conventional designs. Additionally a SDR Radio can encode/decode or modulate/demodulate any mode of today and tomorrow. It is just a matter of time before SDR takes over the ham market. Genie has been let out of the bottle.

    What is not to like?

I downloaded the program, and gave it a shot. I actually was able to understand a lot more with this. Maybe I can finally get one of my own dongles (I have two less expensive ones) to actually work now. The station I connected to may have been having some issues, or I just need more time with it. I'll keep trying it. I also downloaded the PP file (in PDF) so I can read later and learn more. It IS how was able to get setup and started. Thanks

I found that I like the look of SDR Console better than SDR Uno, but... Seems like there is always that but from some folks doesn't it... I can't seem to get it to stay online. For some reason it locks the PC up and I sometimes have had to force power off to get control back... (Like anyone ever really has control of a PC)
I can be doing a mundane task of simply listening to one of the local FM stations or looking for 6 meter ssb activity. It doesn't seem to matter, it will just lock up... SDR Uno on the other hand, I don't recall ever locking up the PC... Maybe I have some setting incorrect, but I have removed and reinstalled the software twice and still come up with the same problem...
Perhaps someone here has had this problem and found a solution?
Running the latest build of Win10 with the Icom drivers as I also use Win4icom with a IC-7300. (But not while I'm having the problem with SDR Console)...

Are you running the official stable version of SDR Console along with the other pieces needed? Or, are you running a beta version? Have you tried going back one or two versions, and trying an older stable version? I've read in the forum (here: https://sdr-radio.groups.io/g/main and here: https://groups.io/g/SDRPlayUsers ) that there are versions that get released that cause problems like lock up, for certain installation situations. I'd try an older version just to see if that problem continues. And, I'd post your details and description of the freeze/crash to https://forum.sdr-radio.com/ <-- this is the pivotal forum for bug issues.

I think SDR is COOL but I can't seem to understand most of it. So much of a learning curve that it isn't fun. Also I am not the smartest guy out here but I function in life just fine. I will leave SDR and some of the other modes to those who "GET IT"

Could it be... Pandora box has been opened?
Who would understand how it works except those who wrote that?
But, the more esoteric it flies, the more some radio-amateurs gonna stick to OOK / BA. Someday, I might need to try SDR, that's it. That day I'd rather borrow stuff than pay for it. Because it works as if there'll always be a hyped mode/specs/bit-rate that turns all existing chips obsolete.
