    There is a fair amount of back and forth on the nanodiamonds with multiple papers each taking a side.

    so, it seems - you might be able to have both - a cosmic airburst vice a superflare and no smoking hole in the ground. Tunguska comes to mind.

    Of course it will.

    It's not a matter of if, but when. These things occur more often than we think, but space is big and fortunately, the odds of earth being in the direct path of one are low. It could happen a month from now, or possibly not for another 500 years or more. Just like life; no-one is guaranteed tomorrow nor for that matter the next heartbeat, but many of us will survive past 90.

    Not something to lose sleep over.
