OK, I"m done with this. I've really been enjoying the chase, but this morning eastern time when W2G/4 came on, the chaos was the worst I've ever seen. You would have thought North Korea was calling CQ. Well then some poor ham who had obviously once had a major stoke, was trying so hard to get his call heard, but was having pronunciation problems, a common problem with stroke patients. And other hams started actually mocking him! Gave me a stomach ache for the poor guy. Turned the radio off and likely won't go back until the new year.
I really appreciate this event. I just got my General license and this is very good practice learning how to use all of the bands frequencies and modes. It also teaches me how to be patient, try again, and get through pile-ups. I’m getting a little braver every day making QSOs. The only thing it can’t help me improve is my 33 foot horizontal dipole in my attic. But so far I still have QSOs with 9/12 stations so I call that a win. I thought I would only get one! Merry Christmas and 73. KF0UCC from Minnesota.

Still trying for W2R..../5 got on 15m CW and made like 3 qsos, then qsy right back to 20m where I'm in the skip zone.
Just checking DX Summitt, looks like 12 Days is working the event like crazy, so get your 11th hour QSO now. Merry Christmas
To all the 12 Days of Xmas operators: PLEASE ID your station. "QRZ" is NOT an ID. Someone spotted a 12 days station with the wrong callsign, and listening to the operator resulted in hearing only "QRZ" instead of the special event callsign under which he was operating. Several operators had to ask him for his callsign, this should be unnecessary, as a special event station should be IDing with his special event call and leave no question as to his callsign. If the stations that worked him logged the callsign that was spotted, they may miss a clean sweep due to logging an incorrect callsign. If the special event operator would ID at least every 3 or 4 contacts, this problem would be eliminated. (Ideally, he would ID with the 1x1 callsign instead of QRZ for each contact, because it doesn't take any longer to say a 1x1 call than it takes to say QRZ)
Not sure who was operating as W2R/5 from Arkansas this evening, but I filmed a couple of minutes of him on the air. If anyone knows who it was, maybe share this video with him. Thanks.
Whoever he was, he's a good operator, he IDs with the 1x1 special event callsign with almost every contact that he makes. This is the way that it should be done, not just QRZed, QRZed, QRZed, for minute after minute.
When you're done. I created a free Log Sheet for the 12 DOC, that can be used to type or hand write in, and placed in your file. At my email address. N8RWE
