Let us know when you get into ham radio.
(It's not a acronym so should not be ALL CAPS).
You really like that broad brush. When I was a CBer that was not true of me or any of the CBers in our town. Why do you have to do these broad brush comments so much. Also why do so many have to bash CBers all the time and make comments like above painting them all bad. There are bad hams too. CB is just another way to communicate that is different than ham radio. I was a CBer before I was a ham and for the first several years I was a ham. CB served an important service. It saved me one night when it was late and I was out on the hi-way and a deer ran out in front of me and pushed the radiator of the truck into the fan. I was able to get a hold of someone, a park ranger, and he called my dad and he called a tow truck.
Maybe I am just not a normal ham because I don't but down those that want to talk on CB radios.
Well, let's see. On HF, everybody almost invariably sends their name and QTH. On CW, anyhow.
Lots of younger hams don't like "handle," but the rest of the story is that it was a ham radio word, at least in the 60s if not before. Only later was it appropriated by the CBers--in the 70s I believe.
Why does everyone have to do it your way. I always said "name here is" John.
Did that for 43 years. You are the first one to ever complain about that in 43 years.
Is that your First Personal or some other personal 10-4?
I wish my Grandson would learn to use the handle.
(Gets Kinda annoying, needing to hang up those yellow strips)
If I lived out farther into the country, I wouldn't need a handle, Just Sears & Roebuck...
In Spanish it's "Yo soy John".
Yeah, me too.
I never got a handle on this topic - maybe I just didn't handle it right.
Probably time to put a lid on it.
