On HF or local (2M 440) when I ID, it always goes something like this...

KM6CND (or HF, Kilo Mike 6 Charlie November Delta) Jeff in So Cal, Huntington Beach. The station that heard my call, now knows:

    I am in Southern California
    Huntington Beach
My mother gave me the name Jeffrey, she has not addressed me by that name in 50 years!

Naturally I will ask the name of the person that replied, rather than to go to the Zed and look up the call sign.

Even if I am monitoring a frequency , with no chance I can get the attention of the station, it sure takes a lot longer to to do a call sign query than it takes to tell us Hams and Hamets where you are geographically...

And I have a bad taste in my mouth, every time I hear "my handle is..."

    I say India Oscar America.
    Why?

When I had the callsign AB0IO, I noted that many would copy the "I" incorrectly on voice: "Alpha Bravo Zero India Oscar." So I switched to using "Italy" instead of "India," and that solved the problem. I think the NATO alphabet guys screwed up when they chose "India." Or perhaps it was just bad enunciation on my part.

No problem, now. I'm "Zulu Delta." :)
