    1. Medical hemostat locking forceps [Kelly clamps] (thin, curved ends most handy)--find at hamfests when they re-open. Semiconductor lead heat-sink,
    fastener retrieval, wire routing or extraction in bundles . $4.

    2. Flush-cutter pliers--Xcelite, Klein---don't know how I went decades without them. $10.

    3. Dental probe--for clearing PC board thru-holes, component extraction through holes, and tube socket & switch terminal clearing for repairs.
    Ask your dentist or hygenist to save a couple when they're tossed-out for condition. $0.

    A key. Well maybe two keys. A straight key and a set of paddles.

    paper, pencils and good math skills!
    you cant always have a calculator with you all the time.
    and best of all a cool head is needed when troubleshooting an intermittent problem.

    AND... let's not forget a good sense of humor. That goes a long way toward helping the ham deal with blown tubes, IC chips that are acting freaky, SWR problems that defy expalnation.... AND all of those cranky folks out there on some bands. :D
