The International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend will take place from 0001 UTC on Saturday the 18th of August until 2359 UTC on Sunday the 19th of August 2001. Last year over 200 stations operated from lighthouses, lightships and maritime beacons.

The event is not a contest, each station decides how it will operate regarding modes and bands. Participants are not committed to being on the air during the entire period - only as much as they can. There is no restriction on aerials or power. Activity does not have to take place inside the lighthouse itself. A field-day-type set-up at the light or other building next to the light is acceptable, but permission must be obtained from the owner or any parties with vested interests in the land. Please take time to work the newly-licensed stations, the slower operators and the low-power stations, thus ensuring that all participants enjoy the event.
