LOL! That's what's great about amateur radio and life...there's different perspectives. Some folks are phone operators and some enjoy CW. Thanks for your thoughts and listening. 73~Steve (K1KTF)
I don't know. I built an HW-101 as a teen in the 1970s. Loved that rig. Went inactive a few years later and sold it. Fast forward to 2015 and I'm active again. I bought somebody else's unloved HW-101 (and many other old tube rigs) that had some hack mods. Got it fix up and it's my favorite rig to operate. Do I wish I had the one I built back in the day? Nah. I never give it a second thought. I bought this one and made it my own.
Recreating a station from your early days in the hobby can bring back great memories hope you are successful locating the equipment you're looking for.
When sold my exellent condition Johnson Viking Valiant in 1977 Yes I was a CBer back then, but after I got Licensed 1984 it would have been grate have,
Beautiful....but.....consider this: That 2C/2NT combo sold for $358 back in 66/67. You probably got $300 or so for the pair? $300 back then is equivalent to about $2200 today. So if you'd just kept them, it would have been the same as someone keeping a $2200 rig today rather than selling it. And after 40 years it would need restoration. Plus you wouldn't have had that $300 to spend. This is why we sold so many classics back in the days before they were "classic" - we couldn't afford to have the money tied up like that.
Hi Eddy! Good Lord! Of all the words to spell incorrectly! Between selling my Drakes and my misspelling...I got issues! Now it makes sense why my therapist is now seeing a therapist! FYI - I just emailed QRZ to understand how to correct my 2nd "dumbest" mistake. Thanks again! 73 ~ Steve (K1KTF)
