    I thought about this today during my 8-hour round-trip on my Harley. In any circuit or network that contains only a traveling wave, the voltage and current are in phase. So if the net voltage and net current are not in phase at the end of the coil, reflections exist. It is easy to calculate and/or measure the difference in phase between the voltage and current. I don't know why I didn't think of this before.

    This statement was based on my misunderstanding. Mickey said 20 degrees, not 20 ns, so my above statement is completely irrelevant and I apologize.
