    - A decent analog VOM
    - Specific tools the ham doesn't have
    - Connectors (good ones)
    - ARRL membership
    - Publications (yes, actual books!)
    - A kit of common supplies for what the particular ham actually does (solder and solder-iron tips for the homebrewer. Wire, insulators, tape, coax-seal for the antenna builder.
    - A UTC/local clock (can be as simple as two clocks, one 12 hour AM/PM, one 24 hour)

Again, "inexpensive" can be in the eye (or wallet) of the beholder. A couple of years ago I got a Baofeng UV-82; it was a bit more than the mandatory limit set by my parents of $25.00 Last year, the pencil sharpener was around $20.00. Should I hold out for a Mercedes this year? Even a Beemer would be OK.

BTW, the UV-82 STILL works, although I don't use it very often. Then again, I don't use my other, "real" H-T's very often, either.:(

Adding a lighted magnifying glass on a retractable boom for the shack.

Batteries!! Aren't we always looking for batteries?

Good ideas though. Keep them coming. :)

The shack? I'd consider that to be a shop tool. But a good idea.

    BRILLIANT! Both rechargeables and one-use!
