I've received a couple of letters to my house saying that they've been scammed off some 600 dollar amplifier. I am the original KI7JCW. I don't use my callsign, or my license for anything. I got the license for a grade in my communications class and am not really into the field.

If you are the few people who have been scammed, I'm sorry but it was not me. You should try to cancel your transaction. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You should put this information in your QRZ profile and state that you are not selling any radio equipment. That would go a long way to stop these scams.

Putting a message in your bio page is a good thing to do.

I got scammed I was contacted by someone concerning this for sale cs108g+ post but not catching it was from a different call from the original post , I responded to this email the person was going by (KI7JCW) named Peter H Qualch his email came to me by ki7jcw@gmail.com it seemed to be ligament at the moment. I responded to his reply email for my address to mail the item to me as we agreed on the price and he said he would fed ex it to me and send track info once money was received. I sent the PayPal trans action to a different email as he requested under friends and family to this address (ki7jcw006@outlook.com). This morning when I replied to his Gmail saying he received the money I said please sent the tracing info as soon as possible with no response. I then sensed something was wrong . Looking into it I seen there has been very similar situation concerning these Callsigns. I am extremely mad at myself for being so trusting and I got schooled today!

KI7JCW put it on your QRZ page in big bold letters. As a matter of fact EVERYONE active on QRZ should do this. This will make it very difficult for scammers to scam.

Sense you don't use your call sign or ham radio, did you know that you can have QRZ remove your call sign from the data base.

That would help to stop the scam using your call sign. At any later date you can always be added back into the database if you decide to use QRZ.

To be removed please contact the Support Center.
