The GERATOL WAS NET is celebrating 54 years of service to the Amateur Radio Community. The acronym GERATOL stands for Greetings Extra Radio Amateurs Tired of Operating Lately. The net is a challenging WAS net, which operates solely in the Extra Class portion of the 80M Band. (3.668/3.667 at 0100Z daily from October through the end of April. The net is open to all Extra Class licensed operators of any age, call sign format or state. To commemorate the net, call sign "K1G" will be active on all HF bands, and will also available each evening at 0100Z on the net frequency. For a commemorative K1G QSL Card, send your QSL, along with an SASE to: N1KL POB 124 Wheelwright, MA 01094 The BASIC WAS Award, does require the exchange of QSL Cards, but the net also offers several fun, but challenging Certificates and Awards that do not require QSL exchanges, rather is done via the honor system with the corresponding application forms.
