    In nutshell, the trajectory of that launch remained fairly vertical throughout and created large "circular shockwaves" four times the size of California over the western US and Pacific Ocean. It's unclear to me whether this was also the size of the ionospheric hole, and how long it lasted.

    Anyone know more about this? Might be interesting to watch pskreporter, wsprnet, etc. during a future similar launch trajectory. Seems like it would produce a serious negative effect on already-poor DX conditions.
