    I like the yo-yo idea, however online I read 4 weigh 1-lb.

I like kite winders, for wire and support cordage.

    I have this smaller size.

The weight, if not the bulk, seems negligible.

They also have larger size kite winders.

I have seen kite builder suppliers have them, as well.

Others like to wind flexible antenna wire and cordage around thumb and forefinger, in an overlapping figure-8, securing it all with a bit of velcro, or, only tuck in the end.

I don't see why either method wouldn't work, as well, for the yo-yo antenna idea.

Simply mark the band on the wire with tape and deploy, with Spectra or Dacron cordage with or without a telescoping fiberglas pole.

I use "Cuban yo-yo" fishing reels to manage rigging and antenna wire. They are perfect for throw lines. They are, though, a bit bulky for backpacking even in the 4 inch size.

Where do you find the 4" one? Is it tapered?

I would use that one on the ground for my throw line to easily come off the spool.

I got them from Challenge Plastic Products, off catalog. Call the nice lady in the office and beg.

I have been interested in having a 20-17-15-12-10 wire antenna, to supplement my RadioWavz 40-20-10 OCF.

Maybe a fan 17-15-12 fan dipole?

I was delighted when I saw this 80 grams lightweight 6-watts rating SOTAbeams Peak Endfed Halfwave Tuner for 20-10.

    The tuning dial is 20-17-15-12-10.

    Tune for loudest noise.

The SOTAbeams Peak EndFed Halfwave Tuner is already assembled, with the box sealed for weather.

SOTAbeams recommends their Liquid Electrical Tape.

    I have never used that.

    Has anyone?

Coax Seal is favored, at this locale.
