I wrote a few Field Day carrols a few years ago. I don't remember all the verses to this one, but it's to the tune of Jingle Bells

    [Refrain]
    Call CQ, Call CQ
    CQ till you swoon
This is what the hams call fun
    The fourth weekend of June.
    Call CQ, Call CQ,
    CQ till your sick
And if ole Murphy comes around
We'll beat him with a stick.

    Some are tapping keys,
    Some are keying mikes,
    We're running up a score
    By the campfire light.
    The generator's hum
    Will serenade the night.
    [forgotten]

    Now Field Day is done
    We're tearing down the site
We've had our share of fun
    And we'll sleep well tonight.
    When we submit our score
    The shame will never pass
    If we're in QST again
At the bottom of our class

    So....
    [refrain]

McCall .Wonder what his initials really stand for ? :p[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>
Actually his name is Bill Freize (Or Freese: I forgot how to spell it) McCall came over to the radio station I built and ran in Silverton, Colo, to record some commercials, giving me an opportunity to get to know him. His son, Bill (Freese? sp.) lived in Ouray, just across Red Mountain Pass, where he was involved heavily in community affairs. Both came to the radio station periodically. McCall spent a lot of time around Ouray there with his son, as well as Silverton and Telluride, but I don't think he lived there. Very little of his music was about CB or trucking. Most of it, including a couple of great albums, was about Southwestern Colorado and the San Juan Mountains. He gave us a copy of each of his albums, at the station, and I found a lot of the San Juan recordings were actually not comedy (though some were) and were very poetically romantic in his love for that area of the country.

McCall was not a ham and the C.W. had nothing to do with Morse. I never asked how he chose that name, but I'm sure there was a story behind it. I had a Swan FM1210 2 meter mobile in my car and he didn't even ask what it was, so was uninterested.

My voices tell me to do bad things... very bad things. But given my distain for institutional diets and having to fight off the romantic advances of &quot;Bubba&quot;, I ignore them.

you know that i would be a liar,

Jerry Reed -- East Bound and Down

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' &quot;Bandit&quot; run.

Keep your foot hard on the pedal. Son, never mind them brakes.
Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make.
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta and there's beer in Texarcana.
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' &quot;Bandit&quot; run.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' &quot;Bandit&quot; run.

Ol' Smokey's got them ears on and he's hot on your trail.
He aint gonna rest 'til you're in jail.
So you got to dodge 'im and you got to duck 'im,
you got to keep that diesel truckin'.
Just put that hammer down and give it hell.

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' &quot;Bandit&quot; run.

    Ki4BOO triggered my muse.

This is about 10 minutes effort. It's a bit rough, the meter doesn't flow as well as I'd like and the wording is a bit out of time.. but I wanted to get it out before I got distracted bysomething else.

    TUNIN' AROUND!
    ==============
    Original song by Jerry Reed entitled 'East Bound and Down&quot;
    Music by Jerry Reed
    lyrics by K3FT &copy; 2004

Tunin' around, up and down the channels!
lookin' for good buddies all around!
I've got my LEENYAR a' hummin'
    and my engine's a'reviin'
I'm keyin' down, watch those watts a'go!

Keep a'mashing down that pedal, keep them alternators turnin'
We gotta keep them amps a'flowin' out!
They cain't copy in Atlanta and we're weak in Texarkana,
We gotta get more power doncha know!

Tunin' around, up and down the channels!
lookin' for good buddies all around!
I've got my LEENYAR a' hummin'
    and my engine's a'reviin'
I'm keyin' down, watch those watts a'go!

Tunin' around, up and down the channels,
We're gonna work what Uncle says just can't be done!
We've got a freebandin' rig and a might powerful sig!
We're gonna talk whereever we may go!

Ol' Riley's got them ears on and he's hot on your trail.
He aint gonna rest 'til you're in jail.
So you got to dodge 'im and you got to duck 'im,
you got to keep that leenyar cookin'.
Just key that mike an dput those watts right out!

Tunin' around, up and down the channels!
lookin' for good buddies all around!
I've got my LEENYAR a' hummin'
    and my engine's a'reviin'
I'm keyin' down, watch those watts a'go!
